Ducati 1198 SP Sport Classic

On last month’s Cover of Cafe Racer Magazine, this custom built 1198 SP Superbike Sport Classic’s engine was completed with an extremely light weight titanium custom 1 of 1 trellis frame incorporating a hybrid between sport classic geometry and superbike geometry to create the ultimate Sport Classic build. The 1198 cc motor utilizes a full race titanium Akrapovic header, matching mid pipe, and custom titanium connections to two titanium SC Project Race canisters. The motor is tuned with a Ducati Performance Race ECU and Power Commander V mapping for maximum output. The front 1198 forks and Ohlins rear superbike suspension help keep the traction dialed with superlite carbon fiber BST wheels wrapped in Pirelli Supercorsa tires- all slowed down by Brembo T-Drive Rotors, and Radial mounted Brembo M4 Superbike Calipers, custom steel braided lines, and Radial Brembo RC Masters. A completely custom aluminum sport classic shaped tank was built to allow for the rear monoshock to work. The tank is coated and air tight with a Superbike Gas Pump custom mounted at the base. Huge Radiators with a full Samco Race Hose kit were used to keep the liquid cooled motor comfortable in the California Climate. NCR Italy is responsible for the elegant Rear Sets which are mounted to thick titanium gussets strengthening the frame to the rider. Driven Racing Halo Clip-ons were used to increase feel and control of this powerful beast. The front headlight and mount were chosen for their lightweight, powerful ability to illuminate the road at night. A custom tail section with LED integrated Brake, Running, and Turn Signal Set up was used to clean up the Classic Tail Section. In terms of the custom Paintwork, this all comes from a shop in central Los Angeles which is known for its talented Automotive Paintwork in the custom car world for shows like SEMA and Monterey Car Week restoration projects. This multistage paint work took weeks to finish and boasts a beautiful homage to Porsche’s Oak Green Metallic with an added Gold fleck in the sunlight. All together the build costs were over $70,000 and over a 1000 man hours to build and create. Own a one of a kind beast of a cafe racer and enjoy the perfection of a dream build.
